BattleWalkers is a step-based battle game. Because the game is social and competitive, some information is shared between players. This policy explains exactly what is collected, stored, and why.
BattleWalkers reads your step count from Apple Health to power weekly battles. This data is read locally on your device. Your raw health data is never transmitted to any external server without your explicit consent (see Optional Research Participation below).
Your weekly step total is used as your battle score and is shared with opponents during active challenges (friend battles and league matchups).
Your game progress — gold, rank, loadout, cosmetics, win/loss record, and settings — is synced to your private iCloud account using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. This data is stored in your personal iCloud and is not accessible to the developer.
When you participate in friend challenges, the following information is stored in Apple's CloudKit (a shared cloud database) so that both players can access the challenge:
This data is visible to your challenge opponent and is used only to run the battle. Resolved challenge records are retained in CloudKit and may be used in aggregate for app improvement.
BattleWalkers offers an optional research opt-in on first launch. If you choose to participate, the app reads up to two years of your historical daily step data and uploads it — along with your ongoing weekly step totals after each battle resolution — to a database maintained by Easeful Health. This data is linked to a randomly generated anonymous ID (a UUID); no name, email address, or location is ever included. The developer can access this anonymised data via the database dashboard to analyse whether BattleWalkers actually increases physical activity over time. This data is never sold or shared with third parties, and is never used for advertising. You can decline on first launch by tapping "No Thanks," and your data will be deleted upon request.
Research participation is entirely voluntary and has no effect on gameplay.
BattleWalkers may send local notifications for battle results and in-game milestones. These are processed entirely on your device. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
BattleWalkers offers optional character unlocks via in-app purchase. All transactions are processed by Apple. BattleWalkers does not store, process, or have access to your payment information.
BattleWalkers does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
